Protectex ("the Bot") is a Discord bot designed to protect servers from phishing and scam links. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your information.
By adding Protectex to your Discord server, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information We Collect
Server Configuration Data
We collect and store the following server-specific settings:
- **Server (Guild) ID**: Discord's unique identifier for your server
- **Protection Status**: Whether phishing protection is enabled or disabled for your server
- **Log Channel ID**: The channel designated to receive phishing detection alerts (if configured)
- **Moderation Action**: Your chosen automatic response (kick or ban) when phishing is detected
Data We DO NOT Collect
We want to be clear about what we **do not** collect or store:
- ❌ Message content or message history
- ❌ User personal information (usernames, emails, etc.)
- ❌ User IDs or profiles
- ❌ Direct messages (DMs)
- ❌ Voice chat data
- ❌ Presence data (online status, activities, etc.)
- ❌ Any data from users who are not server administrators
How We Use Your Information
Real-Time Message Scanning
- The Bot scans messages in real-time **only** to detect phishing and scam URLs
- Message content is processed immediately and **never stored**
- Scanning occurs only in server channels where the Bot has been added
- The Bot does not scan or access direct messages (DMs)
Server Configuration
- Server settings are stored to remember your preferences for:
- Enabling/disabling protection
- Which channel receives alerts
- What action to take when phishing is detected (kick or ban)
Automated Moderation
When a phishing link is detected:
1. The message is immediately deleted
2. The user who posted it is moderated based on your configured action (kick or ban)
3. An alert is sent to your designated log channel (if configured)
4. **No message content is stored** - only the username and user ID are included in the alert
Data Storage and Security
Storage Location
- Server configuration data is stored in a secure SQLite database on our private servers
- Database access is restricted and encrypted
- No third parties have access to this data
Data Retention
- Server settings are retained while the Bot is active in your server
- When the Bot is removed from your server, all associated data is automatically deleted
- No message content is ever retained
Security Measures
- All data transmission uses encrypted connections
- Database files are stored with appropriate access controls
- Regular security updates are applied to the Bot infrastructure
Third-Party Services
Anti-Phishing Database
- The Bot uses an anti-phishing API to check URLs against known phishing databases
- URL checks are performed via encrypted API calls
- The anti-phishing service does not receive any user information, only URLs to check
- No message content or user data is shared with third parties
Discord Platform
- The Bot operates on Discord's platform and must comply with Discord's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
- Discord may have access to data as per their own policies
User Rights and Control
Server Administrator Rights
If you are a server administrator, you can:
- Enable or disable the Bot using the `/toggle` command
- Change moderation settings using the `/action` command
- Configure alert channels using the `/setlog` command
- Remove the Bot entirely to delete all associated server data
Individual User Rights
- Individual users cannot opt out of message scanning, as this is a server-wide security feature controlled by administrators
- Users can leave servers where the Bot is active
- The Bot only processes message content for phishing detection and does not track individual users
Data Deletion
To request deletion of your server's data:
1. Remove the Bot from your server (all data is automatically deleted), OR
2. Contact us at the email below with your server ID
Children's Privacy
The Bot does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since we don't collect personal user data, the Bot can be safely used in servers with users of all ages. However, server administrators should comply with applicable laws regarding children's online privacy.
Machine Learning and AI
**We do NOT use message content to train AI or machine learning models.**
The Bot uses a pre-existing database of known phishing URLs for detection. No data aggregation, pattern learning, or AI training occurs.
International Data Transfers

Changes to This Privacy Policy
